On August 19, 2022, Gutride Safier LLP filed a consumer class action in the Northern District of California against against Gerber Products Company in regards to its sale baby food products. Gerber's baby food products mislead consumers by making nutrient content claims on the packaging of their products intended for children under 2 years of age, which is illegal under California law. The alleged unlawful nutrient content claims include “2g protein,” “wonder food,” and “nutritious.” This case, Howard v. Gerber Food Products – Case No. 3:22-cv-04779, is ongoing.
