In a July 14, 2022 order in the Perez, et al. v. Bath & Body Works class action lawsuit in USDC Northern District of California, a federal judge allowed two claims to proceed after Bath & Body Works filed a Motion to Dismiss. Plaintiffs allege that the company’s Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Body Cream product packaging misleads consumers by claiming that it "attracts and retains up to 1,000x its weight in water" and "make[s] skin look smoother and more supple." Plaintiffs have alleged that scientific studies have shown that hyaluronic acid only retains a small amount of water.
