Roche-Genentech Avastin Cancer Drug
|Whistleblowing||Drugs, Supplements and Health|
Plaintiff was a senior employee at Roche-Genentech. He was responsible for compiling research about its Avastin cancer drug. He claimed that Roche-Genentech hid the adverse effects of Avastin from the FDA and from doctors, causing the drug to be over-prescribed to people with renal problems. This led to false claims to Medicare for reimbursement of millions of dollars.
The case was dismissed based on a technical interpretation of the whistleblower law.
