Netflix Unlimited Movie Rentals

Computers and Devices Apps, Websites and Software

The Allegations:

Netflix advertised its online video rental service as a monthly subscription that included "one day delivery" by mail of an "unlimited" number of movies per month. However, Netflix used algorithms to prioritize delivery of movies to its lowest-consuming customers. The result was that the more DVDs a customer rented, the slower that customer would receive the next one.

The Results:

Pursuant to the court-approved settlement agreement, all persons who enrolled in a paid Netflix membership program prior to January 15, 2005 received a free month of DVD rentals (retail price up to $17.99) for former subscribers and a free month subscription upgrade (retail price $6.00) for current subscribers.

The deadline to file a claim has passed.
