Hollywood Video Debt Reporting
Hollywood Video's debt collector sent unlawful collection letters to customers. These letters failed to explain how the debt was allegedly owed. Also, the letters did not disclose that there was a "convenience fee" charged for credit card payments. Finally, the letters unlawfully implied that if the alleged debt were not paid, the debt would be reported to credit reporting agencies. The debt collector also harassed customers about the alleged debts and failed to provide verification of the alleged debts when requested.
These cases were settled.
