The Allegations:
Most taxpayers are eligible to file for free with the IRS Free File program. Although Intuit has agreed with the IRS to provide its H&R Block tax filing program to persons eligible for IRS Free File, it hides that product from search engines. At the same time it widely advertises and misleadingly directs people to its competing "free" product, which is not really free. After most taxpayers provide their personal and financial data, H&R Block tells them that the "free" software actually costs money, but hides the fact that they could file for free through IRS Free File.
Status:
The case was resolved and the plaintiff(s) filed a voluntary dismissal.
